Do you have any comments? I had an experience with one of Bette's songs that was awesome. In 1994 I married a woman that turned out to be my soulmate. She was a advid fan of Bette Midler's songs. One in particular was God is Watching Us. I listened to this song repeatedly on Friday evenings in our home over a few drinks, loudly. In 1996 she passed away suddenly with no warning. Very devistating. We are from Minnesota and in June we had planned to go on a trip to Colorado Springs, CO, her second home. I went on the trip anyway to trace her life there. I friend of hers took me to a secluded spot in the mountains were we held a private ceremony honoring her. At the end of this ceremony is was like the sky broke open in a song. The song was God is Watching Us. I heard it quite loudly, and of course it was Bette singing it. My friend was not able to hear it. This was a very powerful experience. My wife and I had only been married for a year and a half, but like I said, we were soul mates. It has been 6 years since this happened but everytime I see Bette or hear this song is causes me to pause and remember a life that I had. I have since met a new person and am planning on marrying soon. It is however not the same. I have always wanted to pass this story on to Bette but didn't know how. I saw her today on Rosie's show and decided I would try. I just want to say thanks to Bette for a song with such power and meaning. This one song help me in my time of turmoil and to realize that there is hope that I will be reunited with my soul mate again. With deep sincerity I just want to say Thanks. Tom Lund

I am learning to sing with my best voice possible in a barbershop style in Sweet Adelines and they asked me to picture someone I could picture to be like on stage performing and in stage presence and i spent some time thinking then it hit me that I am a lot like, or I want to be a lot like Bette Midler as far as appearing so confident in performing on stage and in life...how do you do it? let me know... I am just beginning and can feel the great love of the stage and of performing and especially like the way it made me feel inside when i won a blue ribbon/gold medal with my chorus this year at competition? If this is Bette, let me hear some of your comments...it is so hard to find famous role models who can emulate the way i feel when i try to picture where i want to be in the future. In other words, a friend invited me to sing and try out for the chorus (a vocal audition, scary, but I did it) and now I am hooked. Pamela
