Our Divine Miss M not only appears in many books as a "character" if you will, but she also took the time to write two books in the early 1980's. perhaps if we keep looking Ms. Midler will write us another one, to cover the 20 years since her last one. I think the book would be fascinating, full of humor, and insight. But.. for now we'll just have to wait and hope!!
Many of these titles ARE out of print, however there are ways to track down used copies, which is how I managed to aquire them.
