Throughout her career, Ms. M has taken songs that have been done by others, but instead of just "covering them" she takes control and makes them TRULY her own. There's not another way to put it.
For example, since 1988, can you imagine someone else doing "Wind Beneath My Wings"; or how about "Shiver Me Timbers"? They have been done pre-Midler and post-Midler,(see heard it before page) but none of them are ever the same, they can't be, there is a touch of divinity added to each song belted out of that microphone.
Sometimes, there is a need for Divine Intervention in life AND in music. Such is the case here. There are some really great songs out there, that have been done before, but are in need of a touch of the Divine vocal abilities of Ms. M.
