This page sums up a project that gook more than a year to complete. Mama Rose and I came up with the concept for Midler-o-bilia4NYRP. I posted it on a site, as well as organized auctions etc. We raised alot of money for NYRP, while at the same time, helping Ms. M's fans get their hands on things they've been looking for to add to their collections. We had everythign from out of print videos, cds, cassettes, DVDs, T shirts, programs, posters, you name it! THanks to Mama Rose who dealt with making the vdeos and shipping them, since she was in the US. In 2000, an Unofficial Auction was organized to benefit NYRP, New York Restoration Project. The auction consisted of Bette Midler collectibles found by and donated by fans. It was a HUGE success. Continuing on with the great success of the First Annual Bette Fans Auction for NYRP, we came up with a way not only to fix up your collection of Midler-o-bilia, but also to contribute to Bette's Charity, NYRP. How, you might ask? EASY! We're all trying to find the out of print stuff on video, books, posters etc, to beef up our collections, and to get to see many new and older appearances of the Divine Miss M. Problem is, this stuff is sometimes very hard to find, and many times when you do find it... the price is way out of your price range, the money going to people who are taking advantage of fans of Ms. M, or the bidding for an item on Ebay gets so frenzied that the price shoots through the roof. Does THIS sound familiar? ALSO many items on Ebay are listed as "Out of Print" and you turn around and find they are still avail. new, if only you knew where to look, am I right? Well, this is what we tried to elminate. We DID NOT make copies of things that you can readily find on the market, as that takes away from the artist. The items found here were USED or will be copies of the out of print material. And the BEST part? This wasn't done for a personal profit!! All the proceeds went to NYRP!! I don't have the final totals, but here is what I had as of 9/8/02. AMAZING!! COmpletely DIVINE results, all thanks to you the fans!
